Roja Gashtili and Julia Lerman are current fellows in AFI's Directing Workshop for Women where they completed the short film RITA MAHTOUBIAN IS NOT A TERRORIST which will premiere at the 2015 Tribeca Film festival. In 2013, they were recipients of the Tribeca Film Institute's All Access grant. In 2010, they were selected for the Emerging Narrative Labs at IFP's Film Week for their screenplay, Pretty To Think So which was optioned by Andrea Roa (Unexpected, Drinking Buddies) and Kit Bland (Now, Forager).

    In the summer of 2011, they were selected by the Norwegian government as artists-in- residence at the USF Verftet in Bergen where they lived on a dock and drank overpriced beers.

    Roja’s credits include the Oscar-nominated, No End In Sight, Morgan Spurlock's A Day in the Life Martin Scorsese's George Harrison: Living in the Material World and Saturday Night Live: In The 90s produced by Lorne Michaels. Julia’s credits include MTV’s True Life and the Emmy- award winning This American Life. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University.



    DEANNA BARILLARI is an LA-based producer and graduate of NYU's TISCH School of the Arts (B.F.A Drama). Deanna got her start producing Off-Off-Broadway with the PossEble Theater Company, a non-profit theater company she co-founded. During that time she produced four Off-Off-Broadway plays, including the NYC premiere of Leslye Headland's first play, Cinephilia (2008). Deanna then went on to work with Taylor Schilling on NBC's Mercy (2009), Forest Whitaker and Janeane Garofalo on the CBS Drama Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior (2010), and then with Margot Robbie, Kelli Garner, Karine Vanasse and Annabelle Wallis on ABC’s period drama Pan Am produced by Thomas Schlamme, Andrew Bernstein and Sid & Nancy Ganis. From there she worked as a development coordinator for Universal Television. Deanna also worked alongside producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, assisting them on the legendary 86th Oscars hosted by Ellen DeGeneres (2014). Recently, Deanna has collaborated with AFI Directing Workshop for Women Fellows Roja Gashtili and Julia Lerman, producing their web-series K(ID) starring Caterina Scorsone (Grey's Anatomy) and short film Rita Mahtoubian Is Not A Terrorist starring Patrick Fugit (Gone Girl, Almost Famous). Deanna also produces cabaret fundraisers for the Ovation Award-winning IAMA Theatre Company at Rockwell Music Hall in LA. Past performers include Katie Lowes, Busy Philipps, Scott Porter, Casey Wilson, Kelli Garner, Karine Vanasse, Bellamy Young, Daniel Franzese, and Paul Adelstein.



    A native of Seattle and resident of Los Angeles, Tarin has shot a wide variety of projects all across the US and internationally in Brazil, Argentina, and the UK. Her television work includes HBO’s The Jinx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s HitRECord on TV and extensive work with miniatures and puppets for Adult Swim. She has shot numerous music videos for bands including Death Cab for Cutie, Joss Stone, Chris Cornell, The Decemberists, CSS, Lenka, and Young the Giant. Commercially, she has shot projects for Honda, Dodge, Bloomberg TV, Disney, HP, McDonald’s, and many more. Tarin has a Masters degree in cinematography from the American Film Institute (AFI) after studying film at both Vassar and Hampshire College. She is fluent in Swedish and has both US and EU citizenship.
